Today's Sailing NewsTeam Adventure AnnouncementsOne of two United States entrants in The Race of the Millennium made signifigant announcments yesterday. Team Leader Cam Lewis announced Team Adventure's training and qualifying schedule and several key personnel additions. Team Adventure's 110 foot Race Class catamaran will be launched in mid October. By November 1st Team Adventure will tackle the Round Britain course as their qualifying voyage for The Race. After that Team Adventure will tune and train until the start of The Race 31 December. Team Adventure has added several key personnel elements for the Race. French weather specialist Jean Yves Bernot will sail on board Team Adventure as co-navigator. In addition to a pair of on board navigators Team Adventure will have weather routing assistance from on shore. Team Adventure will receive exclusive forecasts from Commander's Weather. Offshore sailor Bill Biewenga will serve as an onshore link between the meteorologists and sailors. The main challenge for weather personnel is that Race class catamarans can outsail weather systems adding a new rinkle to weathe forecasting.
