Note: Sailing Daily was not published on Monday. Fall haul out interceded and kept me away from the keyboard. All apologies Melges 24 Worlds: Repeat after VinceCalifornia sailor Vince Brun repeated as Melges 24 world champion. Although behind going into the final 2 races, Brun sailed to solid finishes of 7th and 8th. Although not spectacular these finishes put Italian sailor Giorgio Zucooli into 2nd place. 3rd was the Collins/Wooten boat steered by Jeff Madrigal. The top Amateur Owner Drive was Tom Freytag. Freytag was 8th overall. Some teams continue unofficial races as part of getting ready. Latest reports have America One handling the Spanish team. America One pulled out to a 6-7 length lead at the windward mark as the teams did 3 short races. Other recent practice pairing have seen France beat both the Spanish and Aloha Racing, Italy twice beat America True and Young America topped Aloha Racing. The practice racing has now concluded. Teams are readying for the start of counter racing on Monday.
