Today's Sailing NewsTeam Philips: Atlantic Sea TrialsToday Team Philips will begin a 3 week period of sea trials in the North Atlantic. If the operation goes as planned Team Philips will cross the Atlantic and arrive in New York on 26 October. Skipper Pete Goss says, "We will work the boat up methodically, give her time to find the right level of performance." Crew member Paul Larson states, "I'll be very surprised if we can go out and sail Team Philips to her full potential straight away." Larson adds his friends, "...know that this is going to be a full on experience." For Team Philips these sea trials will determine whether they'll sail in The Race. The last sea trials ended in a bow falling off. Pete Goss says he won't give the go for The Race if his Race Class catamaran isn't safe. 21 days in the Atlantic followed by a recrossing after a week in New York should give him all the feedback he needs to make his decision.
