Today's Sailing NewsVolvo Ocean Race: Heiner to Assa AbloyAnother piece has been added to the Volvo Ocean race team sponsored by lock maker Assa Abloy. That piece is Roy Heiner of the Netherlands being named as skipper. Heiner was skipper on Brunel Sunergy in the last edition of the Volvo. One of the highlights was a win on leg 7 up the east coat of the USA. Heiner was chosen by the company managing the team, Atlant. Their philosophy is to manage the team selecting the skipper as they see fit. According to Heiner this is fine with him, "This gives me, as skipper, the possibility to focus on my main area, the performance side of the project." Also involved with the team are Mark Rudiger as co-skipper and Magnus Olsson as technical director.
505 WorldsYet another cancellation. 28-35 knot winds + big waves kept the 505's on the beach again. They will try race 2 again on Wednesday.
