Water Level Report

Latest Corps of Engineers water level information does not show a miraculous spring rise.  Most measurements of water level is preceded by a minus sign.

Lake Michigan/Huron is 4 inches below chart datum. This is crucial as it means the water is below the reference point of chart levels.  A 10 foot sounding on a chart is now actually 9 feet 8 inches.  Be always aware of this fact while navigating.

Water level is down 13 inches from May of last year.  It's 20 inches below the normal May average.  51 inches is the amount down from the all time high in 1986.

There are a few plus numbers to report.  Level is up 1 inch from April 5th.  Despite how bad we may believe it is, we are still + 13 inches from 1964's all time low.  

Projections show the water level rising 2 inches by June 5th.

Soling Olympic Trials Qualifier

With 3 straight wins Ed Baird's team has taken the lead.  Baird's team plus 7 others will qualify for the Soling Olympic trials.  

Second is Andrew Horton's team just 1 point back.  In 3rd is the group skipperd by Jeff Madrigal with 21 points.

Holding onto the 8th spot is Medley/Hulbert/Williams.  They are 4 points ahead of the 9th spot going into today's final races.
