April sneaks above norm temp wiseIf any sort of weather observation can be termed exciting then perhaps April 2000 was it. Whether April would continue the 2000 trend of warmth was not decided until the last day of the month. By the 29th the temperature was a total of + 2° for the month. Sunday's high was 59° actually 2 degrees below norm. However, the high was little different from the low which was 57°. Sunday's low was 17 above normal making the total for the month .08 degrees above normal. Olympic Sailing: USA 470 teams at Hyeres WeekBoth of the USA's Olympic trial winning 470 teams sailed the recently completed Heyeres week Olympic regatta. The regatta is sailed in France. Paul Foerester and Bob Merrick scored a 4 point win in the 470 men's fleet. They won 3 of 9 races and were 3 points ahead of an Australian team with a French duo second. J.J. Isler and Pease Glaser were 13th in the women's fleet. There best finish was 4th. Annapolis NOODs: Extreme wins 1D 35'sDan Cheresh's Extreme won a close 4 race series on the Chesapeake Bay. The first 2 races were sailed in tricky under 10 knot winds. Extreme led Joss by 1 point and Heartbreaker by 2 after 2 races. Race 3 was sailed in heavier air with Heartbreaker winning. This brought them into a tie with Extreme. The final race showdown saw Extreme get a lead and cover Heartbreaker. Extreme was second, Heartbreaker 3rd and and by that margin Extreme won the regatta.
