Sailing Majors: Bermuda Race Winner

The Lighthouse Trophy which signified the corrected time winner of the Newport to Bermuda Race has been won by Restless a Pearson 41.  Designed by the late Phillip Rhodes, Restless is 35 years old.  The skipper was Eric Crawford plus a crew of 5.  Crawford has owned Restless for 13 years after inheriting the 41 footer from relatives

Sailing in the IMS Class I racer/cruiser section Restless has the highest handicap.  The boats that took line honours are largely grand prix racers with professional crews.  True offshore racing on a handicap basis is one area of sailing that ametuars can compete in without any special dispensation.

Newly released are the world match race rankings.  Top level events included in the calculations include: the Lake Constance event and the Santa Maria Cup.
