Day 2 of the 2000 Chicago Sailing World NOOD Regatta

Day 2 of the 2000 Chicago Sailing World NOOD Regatta held up the promise of variation the forecast had given. On the way to circle A wind speeds were up to 20 knots.  Again boats started with a # 3 and crews hiked hard.  

After a half hour lunch break the wind was  notably down.  However, as the wind had blown down the lake from the North the night before lumpy seas still rolled through the course.  Boats shifted gears from #3's to heavy on light 1's.  Winds went as low as 7 knots.  At least in some of the PHRF  handicap classes made a difference in the standings.  Heavy boats that punched through waves via displacement couldn't set their displacement bulk moving in the light stuff.  

Some of the better performances in these tough conditions were: Vagary  2 wins and now 4 straight.   Fuzzy Logic was a double winner in the MUMM 30's .  In the Benetau 40.7 class LA Tempete has won all 4 races. 

With one race remaining some of the closer classes are the J-24 and S2 9.1.  Muskegon's Stirred Not Shaken leads the J-24's by 3 points.  Stirred has won 2 of 4 races and leads Alpha Tramp going into today's final race.  The S2 9.1 are also lead by a 3 point margin.  Kato is the leader, Muskegon's Spectra is the pursuer.  

Today's race will conclude the Great Lake's swing of the NOOD's. Sailing Daily will have a full wrap up on Monday.  

No 70's results posted.  However, Pied Piper has won 3 of 4 but did not sail race 1.
