This past weekend was a busy one.  From across the Atlantic to England and the Admirals Cup, to Lake Huron and the 2nd of this years races to Mackinac to the home Lake of the Torresen Sailing Site, sailors were attempting sail fast.

The 2nd of the Great Lakes Mac races started Saturday.   Besides an encounter with a thunderstorm after the
start the fleet has seen very slow going. 

First to the Island was Earty Voyager at 0534 this morning.  Other finishers include Trader, RX Sight, Deep Powder, Pied
Piper, Equation, Colt 45, Stripes, Holua, Thirsty Tiger, Change, Adagio and Windancer VI.   Unofficial word
from competitors in the Great Lakes 70's class has Windancer VI as the corrected time winner, with Pied Piper
in 2nd.

Admirals Cup: 1st offshore exposure

For the Admirals Cup it was the first taste of offshore sailing.  After this offshore race the team standings
are as follows.

Of note is the damage suffered by the USA's IMS big boat Idler.  A grounding which occured while sailing upwind at 7.9
knots has left the Idler team with an extensive job list which reads as follows: .   Damage to the interior of the boat includes extensive delamination in the bilge area where the structure supporting the keel is bonded to the hull of the boat. The lead ballast exterior is flattened where it struct the rock. There is also damage to the trailing edge of the keel. At the keel to hull joint, the fairing needs to be repaired.

Additionally Idler needs to head to the container for a new wheel.  This due to as Idler impacted Ken Read went through the wheel and Jim Bray through the side of the wheel.

JY 15 Midwests

On our home waters of Muskegon Lake was the JY 15 Midwest regatta.  26 boats battled in moderate conditions
