At last report the 60 foot trimaran Foncia Immoblier was 168 miles from the Lizard. The Lizard marks the east end of the Trans Atlantic record course. Fonica needs to sail at an average of 11.5 knots in the next 15 hours to break Jet Services record. At 1200 UTC or 0800 eastern from onbaoad Yvan Bourgnon said: "Our scheduled arrival time will be very close to the Jet services record so it is going to be a very narrow margin. The last hours of the race are going to be critical and we are putting all the energy we have got left into making the boat progress as best we can with the current weather conditions." American co-skipper Cam Lewis summed up Foncia's challenge this way: "We have a huge problem. We need to break this record. However, there is a grand and elusive obstacle lurking just ahead. A low pressure area that has no determined path is moving between us and the Lizard finish line. Anything can happen. But we can't control the weather forecast and the weather guys don't know either." In the end Foncia must finish at the Lizard by 02:43:32 UTC (22:43:32 eastern) to break the record.
